You’re right. The tag word for The Golden Rule is Empathy. Knowing how you feel is such an important part of growing up. Recognizing that others have the same feelings, equally as important. As a mother, I always tried to ask the question, “How do you think so and so felt when . . .” Now I ask my grandkids too. Anyone who knows me well will tell you that, as Dolly Parton says in Steel Magnolias, “Nobody cries alone in my presence.” We need more of that. Not the crying. Just the Empathy.
